Tetris...

"The Tetris effect refers to the ability of any activity to which people devote sufficient time and attention to begin to dominate their thoughts, images, and dreams. It is named after the computer game Tetris, in which users have to rotate different shapes as they fall down the computer screen to fit together in a neat pile at the bottom. People who play Tetris a lot may be involuntarily prompted to think about ways different shapes in the real world can fit together, such as on seeing boxes on supermarket shelves. They may also see images of falling Tetris shapes in dark parts of the visual scene or when they close their eyes. They may also dream about falling Tetris shapes when drifting off to sleep (Stickgold, Malia, Maguire, Roddenberry, & O'Connor, 2000).

The Tetris effect can occur with other computer games, with any prolonged visual task (such as classifying cells on microscope slides, weeding, picking fruit) and can also occur in other sensory modalities. For example, in audition there is the tendency for a catchy tune to play out unbidden in one's mind (an ear worm), and in kinesthesis there is the tendency for the rocking motion of a ship or boat to play out unbidden on dry land (sea legs or mal de debarquement). It has been known for players of first-person shooter games to panic briefly upon noticing the lack of a crosshair in the centre of their real-world field of vision. Some players of Dance Dance Revolution also report seeing arrows moving upwards when closing their eyes after intense play.

Stickgold et al. (2000) have proposed that the Tetris effect is a separate form of memory. This is from their research in which they showed that people with anterograde amnesia , unable to form new memories, reported dreaming of falling shapes after playing Tetris during the day, despite not being able to remember playing the game at all."

So, I can verify this effect. It's true, but it's not permanent. I used to play tetris so much, and I think i will start again. Though I can't think of any reason this effect would come in handy...

well wait, it really helped in the move. So, one should play tetris for a week before beginning packing to move. That way, you'll get the most out of your space.
